You may calculate gallonage needed by finding the feet per gallon and dividing your lineal feet by that number. Example: Joint size is 4" X 3/8". This chart indicates that one gallon will chink 13 feet. If there are 5,500 lineal feet to be chinked, divide 5,500 by 13 to get 423 gallons. Although this chart is rounded up where needed, it does not include waste. Keep in mind that the depth is an average depth across the joint. We tend to think of the depth in the middle of the joint where it is actually the thinnest. If your estimations are generally short, check to see that you use average joint depth. |
